This page explains how the capability works and how its coordination would need to be structured. LogisticID currently arranges European road freight through third-party carriers. Nothing here is an offer, and no booking can be placed for it today.
A flow behaves differently from a series of shipments
Arranging one movement well is a bounded problem: a consignment, two ends, a date. Arranging the same movement forty times is not the same problem repeated, because the shipments begin to interact.
A consignment that leaves early occupies storage at the far end. One that leaves late pushes a delivery into a period when the receiving site is closed. Consolidating two shipments reduces cost and couples their timing, so a delay to one becomes a delay to both. None of these effects is visible from inside a single booking, which is why a flow managed shipment-by-shipment tends to be locally sensible and globally poor.
Coordination means the decisions are made against the flow rather than against the shipment in front of you.
What can actually be coordinated
The useful scope is the set of decisions a forwarder is positioned to make, and it is narrower than the phrase 'supply chain' suggests.
- Mode selection across a flow rather than per consignment, including where a slower mode is acceptable because the flow absorbs it.
- Consolidation decisions: which movements should travel together, and what that couples.
- Where goods rest between legs, and for how long, coordinated through partner facilities rather than operated.
- The outbound pattern from a holding point, and how it matches the inbound one.
- Consistency of shipment data across parties, so the same consignment is described the same way to a carrier, a site and a border.
What this is not
It is not supply-chain consulting. Network design, inventory policy, demand planning, supplier strategy and sourcing decisions sit with the business that owns the supply chain, and a transport coordinator is not positioned to set them.
It is not a system. There is no platform here, no portal and no tracking product; the coordination is done by people against agreed inputs. A page implying software would be describing something that does not exist.
And it is not offered yet. LogisticID arranges European road freight today. Coordinating a flow across modes and storage points is being prepared, and saying so is more useful than a page that presents an intention as a service.
Where it fits
When this is the right choice.
- The same movement or a similar one repeats often enough that its pattern matters more than each instance.
- Shipments interact: consolidating them, or storing between legs, changes what the others should do.
- Several parties describe the same goods differently and the inconsistency causes delay.
Where it does not
When something else suits better
- A single movement is needed, where ordinary freight forwarding is the whole answer.
- The question is inventory policy, network design or sourcing, which belong to the business rather than to a transport coordinator.
- A software platform is wanted, which this is not.
- It is needed now: this is being prepared and is not arranged today.
Preparing a request
What to have ready.
- The shape of the flow: origins, destinations, and roughly how often movements occur.
- Whether volumes vary predictably, and what drives the variation.
- Which parts are fixed by contract or by a receiving site's requirements.
- Where goods currently rest between legs, if they do, and who holds them.
- What is going wrong now, in specific terms rather than as a cost target.
